55 Hours and Counting...

Last time I went to the Empire State Building I met Ryan at the top. We stood up there (stood because they won't let you sit) and talked about our relationship for 6 hours. 6 hours of DTR-ing and standing!! Woof. If we're being honest here, it was a little painful.

At the end of it, he proposed to me. I, very hesitantly, said "okay," wore the ring for 23 hours until we broke up and didn't speak for 3 months...that was even more painful.

I missed him terribly and I guess that was the most painful part.

So in August we finally spoke again for the first time in months. I told him I didn't want to live without him, and though it took some time, we started dating again and things have been a lot less painful...in fact, pretty wonderful.

Sunday morning Ryan asked me to go to breakfast with him and a friend who was in town. We got up early and went to midtown to "meet" his friend. As we walked past the Empire State Building, people were standing in front of the doors trying to sell tickets to the tourists. To my surprise, just as I said "No thanks" to the ESB salesmen Ryan said, "I think we will go up" and opened the door.

He was very cautious and wanted to make sure I was okay with visiting our old stomping grounds. "If you think you might not want to go up, tell me now. We don't have to go right now if you don't feel good about things...just tell me before we get up there." I assured him I wanted to go and the second time around we conquered it in under 60 minutes.
Because of the rainy morning were the only two at the top and maybe the only two that would appreciate it on a cloudy morning any way.

We ran around the balcony and were whipped around by the misty clouds sweeping over the banisters. It felt like a dream. It still does.

I'm super happy. Now we just have to work on eternity...

This is a little bit embarrassing but I met you when we all sat outside the Kennedy Center waiting for Messiah sing-along tickets in December 2007, and you and Ryan and Taylor danced to keep warm. And this news makes me really happy. Congrats.

Congratulations Kim! I didn't know you had a blog--I linked here from NieNie, of all places, and see Jessica is your first commenter. What a small world! Congratulations. You look beautiful, and totally happy.

(I hope you remember me, I was Jess's roommate at BYU and Andrea's for a while too...)

I'm a newcomer (from NIe's blog), but I LOVE second chances...and men who are willing to wait. And offer them.

Congrats! This is exciting. I followed this link to your blog from Nienie's last post. I don't know if you remember me, but we sat next to each other at graduation from BYU, and I recognized you as being Scott's sister. Anyway...congratulations! That is really exciting!

Oh my gosh! I don't know you (I came here via Nie Nie), but a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you both!!! I had to comment, as I TOO BECAME ENGAGED at the top of the Empire State Building!!! Well, with a very happy marriage and four children later, I can tell you there must be something good in the air up there! =) I was just revisiting the top of the Empire State Building just this past Friday night (school field trip this time - heehee). Congrats again!
