Growing up, the Easter bunny always brought candy, a new swimsuit, and since my Dad...er...the Easter bunny is such an animal lover, we would occassionally get an extra special find during our Easter Egg hunt: a couple of ducklings.
The Easter ducklings have inadvertently turned into some of the Calder family's most told stories:
The ducks that Scott "played" with too hard, stuffing them in my barbie car and trying to make them swim in the toilet. And then the angry mob of siblings that came at Scott yelling, "Scott killed the duck. Let's kill Scott!"
Howard the duck--who we found out months later wasn't a drake at all--layed eggs all over the yard.
And most importantly, the ducks, Lucy and Ricky and the fateful spring morning when we couldn't find Ricky and Lucy was missing one of her eyes. The $100 surgery that followed to save the duck and then how Lucy was thereafter referred to as "Lucifer" because of the fear she instilled in everyone who entered our backyard; if she ever caught a glimpse of you out of her "good" eye, she would chase you until she had bitten you.
Though Easter marks the the beginning our our 3 year knowing each other (Ryan and I met on the subway on Easter Sunday), we haven't necessarily started any of our own Easter traditions (oh, unless you count riding the subway to church a tradition). However, since we're officially in the market for traditions, here are some of this year's Easter Events that may be the beginning of our own family stories:

The post was good, until the last picture. That made it great.
Sneaking my way over via NieNie as she linked your blog. I absolutely LOVE the matching outfits. So "Easter-ish."
Anyway, I am on the other side of the Hudson in Connecticut and should you ever need a time out in the burbs, let's talk.
Love the blog and love the fun writing.
Ciao.
How pretty, it's been years since I've visited NY and it looks much more fun than I remember. The weekend in London was quiet with most people choosing to sleep.. at home :)
Please post your recipes, that cake looks mouthwatering.
Oh the Easters of yesteryear! Love the ducks and thanks for saying "mob" when we all know it was me. Love the pics. And the outfit! Love it!!! Love you! Can't wait to catch up.
I love the stories! What fun traditions. :) I miss you, next time you are in Utah please give me a call I won't take to much time just lunch and a good kim chat. I miss those, they once got me through some hard times. You look beautiful and your man is a doll. I love ya
that pic of you guys in the street is perfect...
you posted a pic of me with my eyes closed :(
I am in awe of the Easter outfits! What exactly did you make?
I also love the outfits. Love them. I even posted a link on my blog so people will come see them.
Look at you two!!! Your outfits fill me with GLEEE! When Dave and I were engaged we thought it would be fun to wear matching outfits for the day...we wore them all day and met up later for a play at Provo high. We looked really nerdy!!!! Now I know why...we needed coordinating outfits not TWINNER outfits!!
Oh my gosh, how did I not ever go to that parade?? LOVE YOUR OUTFITS!!
